The Challenge

Readers Den had an existing website that was quite outdated, and had a broken payment gateway, thus rendering their ECommerce store essentially useless. They wanted a fresh, clean look and a hassle-free way for customers to purchase from their website. They also wanted to move away from the website platfor they had been using to WordPress, but had a very large shop inventory that they didn’t want to have to input into the new site manually.

The Solution

We gave them a new look that was clean, but still spoke to the aesthetic of their merchandise. We found a way to transfer their store to WordPress and WooCommerce without them having to lift much of a finger, and implemented Payfast so that their payment gateway would function flawlessly forevermore.
Designing the Africa Infused website Africa Infused had some printed material already, so we used this to extend the look-and-feel into the website, while also bringing in some new elements to further the identity they wanted to create around their brand. We used a thick, luxury paper texture as a background, while also using a faded pattern in their brand’s purple. Photographs of sunset in luxurious locations, or of their gins help wrap someone on their website in a mental blanket of luxury and relaxation. We also used hand-drawn, line, images of ingredients they use in the cocktails they draw up for clients, as well as using some transparent images to make it look “infused” into the site. See what we did there…?

Website Development
A Redesign Our first priority was to make sure that the new website was 100% functional, and easy to navigate. Secondly, it should reflect the personality of the business, while not being overly flashy, and allowing the products to really shine. We trust that this new website will serve Readers Den well for some years to come.
